Trust & Safety

Last updated: 19 May 2026

Our commitment

ReGo is built to help people in Sri Lanka buy and sell with confidence. Safety is a shared responsibility between the Platform, our community, and every user.

We combine technology, human review, and user reports to reduce fraud, abuse, and harmful content. No marketplace can eliminate all risk, but we work continuously to improve protections.

Community standards

Listings must be accurate, lawful, and posted in the correct category. Misleading titles, stock photos presented as your own item, or hidden defects undermine trust.

Harassment, hate speech, threats, spam, and impersonation are not allowed in messages, reviews, or profile content.

Prohibited items include illegal goods, weapons, drugs, stolen property, counterfeit products, and anything that violates intellectual property or privacy rights. See our Terms & Conditions for more detail.

Listing moderation

New and edited listings may be reviewed before or after they go live. We may approve, reject, or remove listings that breach our policies.

Automated checks and optional AI-assisted review help flag risky content. Final decisions may involve human moderators.

Approval or publication of a listing does not mean ReGo guarantees the item, seller, or transaction.

Verified phone numbers

Sellers can verify phone numbers on their account. Verified numbers are shown to buyers where applicable and cannot be edited without re-verification.

Verification confirms control of a phone number at a point in time; it is not a background check or endorsement of the user.

Reviews and reputation

Reviews help the community assess past experiences. Leave honest feedback after genuine transactions when possible.

Unverified or proof-based reviews may carry less weight than verified purchase reviews. Attempts to manipulate ratings (fake reviews, retaliation, or paid feedback) may result in account action.

Reporting problems

If you see a suspicious listing, abusive message, or policy violation, use the report option on the listing or profile where available, or contact us at hello@rego.lk with links and details.

Include screenshots, usernames, and listing URLs when you can. We review reports as quickly as practicable but cannot always share outcomes due to privacy.

For urgent threats to personal safety, contact local authorities first.

Buying safely

Inspect items in person when possible before paying. For high-value goods, meet in a public place and consider bringing someone you trust.

Be cautious of prices that seem too good to be true, sellers who refuse inspection, or pressure to pay before you are comfortable.

Avoid sharing banking passwords, one-time codes, or remote access to your devices. ReGo will not ask for your password by email or SMS.

Selling safely

Use clear photos and honest descriptions. Disclose defects, reason for selling, and whether the price is negotiable.

Prefer in-person handover with payment you trust, or established payment methods with buyer protection where available.

Do not share OTP codes or approve logins on behalf of buyers. Scammers sometimes impersonate buyers or payment services.

Scams and fraud

Common scams include fake payment confirmations, overpayment/refund tricks, requests to move conversation off-platform, and phishing links. Stay on ReGo messaging when you can so there is a record.

We may suspend accounts linked to fraud reports and cooperate with law enforcement when legally required.

If you believe you have been defrauded, report it to us and consider filing a complaint with the police or relevant authorities in Sri Lanka.

Account security

Use a strong, unique password and do not share your login details. Sign out on shared devices.

If you suspect unauthorised access, change your password immediately and contact hello@rego.lk.
